MELLOTT — Walter Scott Brown, 69, of Mellott, died at 2:45 a.m. Friday at Culver Hospital where he had been a patient for a week. Mr. Brown lived in Mellott his entire life, except for WWI service. He was born August 15, 1892, on a farm two miles southeast of Mellott. He was the son of John and Emma Hamm Brown. On May 30, 1929, he married Fauniel Houts of Stone Bluff. Mr. Brown worked for more than 20 years at the Chicago & Eastern Illinois RR car shop, Danville, Ill. He retired because of ill health and had been an invalid for six years. He was a member of the Mellott Congregational Christian Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Aaron Lee Brosher of Jamestown and Mrs. Robert Oliver of Crawordsville; two sisters, Mrs. Deadie Hancock of NY City and Mrs. Eva Etter of Covington and three grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Crumley Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Rev. Jack Eltebuse of the Mellott Chrstian Church will officiate. Burial will be at Osborn Prairie Cemetery near Stone Bluff. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday afternoon and evening.

MELLOTT — Funeral services for Walter Brown, 69, were held Sunday afternoon at the Crumley Funeral Home, Hillsboro. The services were conducted by Rev. Jack Eitelbuss, pastor of the Mellott Congregational Christian Church. Organ music was played by Mrs. Leslie Grubbs of Newtown. Pallbearers were Donald Brown of Crawfordsville, Wayne Washburn and Ralph Lowe of Veedersburg, Jimmy Washburn oaf Zionsville, Kenneth Stuart of Muncie and Stuart Ludlow of Glenview, Ill.
