MARIETTA ROBBINS BRYANT

Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Marietta Jane, daughter of William and Nancy Robbins, was born in Coles county, Illinois, Sept. 6, 1863, and departed this life Nov. 20, 1933, at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 14 days. She was united in marriage with James P. Bryant on July 3, 1877; and to this union were born eight children: Alfred, of Grange Corner; Nathan, of Veedersburg; Mrs. Artie Wooley, of Wallace; Mrs. Stella Keller, of Waynetown; Mrs. Anna Smith, of Elkhart; Charles, of Marshfield; Martin, who resides near the old homestead, and Melvin who preceded his mother in death only a few months ago. Mr. and Mrs. Bryant lived the first few years of their married life in Illinois, but have resided in their present home since 1883. Although the deceased never united with any church, she was a firm believer in the principles of the Christian faith, and lived her religion daily. Mrs. Bryant was a home-loving woman, rarely leaving, even for a day, her own hearthstone. Here she labored year after year and found much happiness in the rearing of her five manly sons and her three loving daughters. And it can be truthfully said that she lived her allotted time doing well and faithfully her daily work. Besides her seven children, she leaves to mourn her parting, her faithful husband and helpmate. Together they have walked life's pathway for more than fifty-six years. Twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild, a half-brother, William Lineberry, of Illinois and many other relatives and friends, also survive. Once again we come in sorrow, A sister in the earth to lay, Yet, we know that on the morrow Our house, too, shall turn to clay. "Tween the narrow wall she sleepeth, Resting from all earthly care, But her soul the Father keepeth, She will greet us Over There.  --typed by Barbara B.
