Russell Burgner, age 60, of 600 N. Walnut St., Veedersburg, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Carle Memorial Hospital in Urbana, Ill., where he had been a patient one day. He had been in failing health several months. Mr. Burgner was born Sept. 18, 1906, in Veedersburg, the son of William and Maud Boggs Burgner. He was a life resident of the Veedersburg community. He was married June 18, 1936, to Helen Haggerman, who survives. He was associated with his father in the Burgner Garage for many years. He later was employed as an insurance salesman for the Hub Agency. He was a graduate of Veedersburg High School and a member of the First Christian Church. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: two sons, John of Lafayette and David at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Burgner of Veedersburg; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Songer of Veedersburg; and one brother, Robert, also of Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Brown. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Veedersburg. The Rev. James Dyson officiated. Burial, with the Parham Funeral Home in charge, was in Rockfield Cemetery, southeast of Veedersburg.
