John S. Burk, 12-21-59,
A Hillsboro farmer was found dead Monday afternoon on a farm owned by his son, Alfred Burk, one-half mile south of Waynetown. He had been in failing health for a period of time, suffering from a heart ailment. He was born March 7, 1887. He was married to Mary Eva Naham, who died in February 1957. Mr. Burk, a farmer, lived on the William Allen farm five miles south of Hillsboro. He had lived in the Hillsboro vicinity a number of years. He was a member of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge and OES, 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite of Indianapolis and Knights Templar. Surviving are a son, Alfred of Crawfordsville; three brothers, William B. of Wingate, Jerry of Crawfordsville and George of Indianapolis; five daughters, Mrs. Clara Kelsey of Wingate, Mrs. Bertha Woodard of Linnsburg, Mrs. Pearl Hicks of New Market, Mrs. Cora Hicks of Hoopeston, Ill., and Mrs. Alice Fletcher of Indianapolis; two grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Russell, and a daughter, Miss Cletus Burk, who died in 1958 and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Russell Burk, who died recently. The body was taken to Crumley Funeral Home here. Funeral arrangements are pending.  -- - typed by Walt W

HILLSBORO — Funeral services for John Burk will be held at 10:30 a. m. Thursday at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with burial in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Rev. John R. Servies of Crawfordsville will be the officiating minister. Masonic Rites will be conducted at the graveside. Mr. Burk died Monday on a farm owned by his son, Alfred Burk, near Waynetown. He had been ill with a heart ailment.  --waw
