OAKWOOD — Dorothy L. (Lane) Burton, 88, of Oakwood, passed away at 9:33 a.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008, at her residence. She was born on Dec. 12, 1919, in Barron County, Ky., the daughter of James B. and Laura J. (Rigdon) Lane. Both deceased. Dorothy married Donald Burton in 1955 in Danville. He preceded her in death in October of 1990. Dorothy is survived by her numerous nieces and nephews. Her four brothers and three sisters preceded Dorothy in death. Dorothy was employed with the Steel Grip Factory in Danville, as well as helping her husband, Don, farm the land in Newtown. Dorothy attended the Newtown Hebron Church in Newtown, and the South Side Church of the Nazarene in Tilton. She enjoyed her music, working in her flower garden and traveling. She was an avid collector of lighthouses and crystal baskets. She will be missed by all that knew her. A celebration of the life of Dorothy Burton is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating the service is Pastor Tom Weller. Final resting place will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Oakwood. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 at the funeral home.
