7-3-1967 Fithian, Ill (CNS) -- Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hope United Church of Christ for Sherman Butts, 73, of Fithian Route 1. He was killed Monday when his auto crashed into the rear of a truck carrying steel pipe a mile north of Collison. The Rev. Herschel Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in Emberry Cemetery. The body is at the Lanham Funeral Home in Potomac. The family has requested that memorials be in the form of donations to a memorial fund at the Hope United Church of Christ. Born Oct. 28, 1893, at Mellott, Ind., he was the son of Thomas W. and Mary Ann Leighty Butts. He was married April 30, 1927, to Marcella Ludwig, who died Aug. 15, 1966. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Creech of Fithian and Mrs. Norman Miller of Gifford; a brother, Hurley of Fithian; two sisters, Mrs. Freeman Cronk of Veedersburg, Ind., and Mrs. Ruby Jenkins of Fithian; and four grandchildren.  --typed by Walt W

Services were held Thursday at Fithian for Sherman Butts, 73, of Fithian Route 1, who was killed July 3 in an auto accident near Collison. Burial was in Emberry Cemetery. Mr. Butts was born at Mellott on October 28, 1893, the son of Thomas W. and Mary Ann Leighty Butts. He was married April 30, 1927 to Marcella Ludwig, who preceded him in death August 15, 1966.
