Glenn E. Byers Glenn E. Byers, 69, of Wingate, a former resident of Rt. 7 Lafayette, died at 6 p.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Hospital where he had been a patient two months. Born near Octagon in Tippecanoe County, he was married in 1924 in Sheffield, Ill. to Verna M. Bechtel, who survives. A resident of Tippecanoe County most of his life, he attended Montmorenci High School and was a semi-retired interior and exterior painter. He was a member of Stidham United Methodist Church. Besides painting, Mr. Byers also was engaged in farming. Surviving with the widow are two sons, Lt. Col. Robert E. of Aberdeen, Md., and Wendell G. of Wingate; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry Harper of Attica, and a brother, Clarence of Shadeland.
