COVINGTON, Ind. (CNS) – Joseph Henry Byrd, 78, of Perrysville Route 1, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 15, 1970) at the Danville Veterans Administration Hospital where he had been a patient since June. Born March 2, 1892, in State Line, he was the son of Oliver and Bertha Makenson Byrd. He married Mamie Elkin, who survives. Mr. Byrd was a member of Curtis G. Redden American Legion Post 210. He had resided in Perrysville for 37 years and prior to that he had resided in State Line. He was a veteran of World War I. Also surviving are two sons, Sherman M. sand Robert, both of Perrysville Route 1; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson. Services will be at 4 p.m. EDT Saturday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home with the Rev. Grover Williams officiating. Burial will be in State Line Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  --waw
