Covington, Ind. - Mrs. Iva Lorene Callahan, 56, of Silverwood, Kingman Route 2, died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 8, 1969) in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville where she had been a patient since Dec. 25. She had been ill several months. A life resident of Fountain County, Mrs. Callahan was born Sept. 20, 1912 at Hillsdale, the daughter of Theodore and Emily Maiden Craft. She was married Feb. 6, 1932 to Russell Franklin Callahan. he died Nov. 18, 1966. Survivors include the mother of Hillsdale Route 1; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Lyons, Covington Route 1, Mrs. Deloris Reese, Crawfordsville, Mrs. Alberta Mae Huston, Covington Route 1, Mrs. Linda Lou Thompson, Crawfordsville Route 7, and Mrs. Betty G. Kelch, Perrysville Route 1; a son, William F. Callahan of Covington Route 1. Also, seven brothers, Lawrence Craft, Danville, Ill., Louis of Kalamazoo, Mich., Miler of Newport, Alonzo of Cayuga, Elbert of St. Bernice, Marley of Dana and John of Fowler; two sisters, Mrs. Mable Kyger, Dana, Mrs. Ocie Miller, Brazil; 10 grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren. Mrs. Callahan was a member of the Waterman Baptist Church at Lodi and the Missionary Homemakers of the church. The body is at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, Covington where visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening. Services will be at 2 p.m. (EST) Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. William Rudd will officiate, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Callahan belonged to Waterman Baptist Church at Lodi where she was a member of Missionary Homemakers. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Lyons of Rt. 1, Covington, Mrs. Deloris Reese of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Alberta Mae Huston of Rt. 1, Covington, Mrs. Linda Lou Thompson of Crawfordsville, and Mrs. Betty Jane Kelch of Rt. 1, Perrysville; a son, William Franklin Callahan of Rt. 1, Covington; 10 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven brothers, Lawrence of Danville, Ill., Lewis of Kalamazoo, Mich., Miles of Newport, Alonzo of Cayuga, Elbert of St. Bernice, Marley of Dana, and John of Fowler, and two sisters, Mrs. Mable Kyger of Dana and Mrs. Ocie Miller of Brazil. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. William Rudd officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
