CATES – Lilly Campbell, 81, a life resident of Fountain County, died at 5:55 p.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient since Dec. 3. A daughter of Oliver and Eliza Kiger Stoup, she was born near Cates on Feb. 22, 1887. She married David E. Campbell on Aug. 11, 1912. The husband survives on Rt. 2, Kingman, and there are three daughters, Mrs. Novella Clodfelder of Rt. 1, Covington, Mrs. Evelyn Bruno of Wellesley Hills, Mass., and Mrs. Kathleen Bowling of Cates; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Basinger of Rt. 1, Tangier, and brother, George Stoup of Rt. 1, Kingman. A son died in infancy. Mrs. Campbell was a member of Cates United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of Cates Royal Neighbors Lodge. The body is at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, where funeral arrangements are incomplete. -- typed by Chris M
