Esau Carnes, 68, of 453 North Center Street died at St. Anthony’s Hospital at Terre Haute, Tuesday night Feb 19. He had been in ill health for the past five years.  He was born Aug 31, 1877 in Fountain County one mile north of Kingman, the son of Arthur and Permelia Carnes and with his brother and sister he attended the Kingman school.  About 45 years ago the parents sold their farm and moved to Terre Haute. Three years later he was married to Miss Mary Holmes, who died about 20 years ago.  Many people in this vicinity will remember him as a boy. Surviving are a brother, John of Terre Haute and one sister, Mrs. Anna Hoffman of Miles City, Mont. Funeral services were held at the Mt. Olivet Church in Catlin, Ill Friday afternoon. The Catlin Masonic Lodge conducted burial services at the cemetery. (Note: died 1-29-1946 and is buried in Mt. Olivet in Catlin, INDIANA.
