CARPENTER, Estel Duncan

Mrs. Estel Carpenter of 212 DeHart St., West Lafayette and widow of Rev. Guy O. Carpenter, former pastor of the First Methodist Church, died at Home Hospital at 12:22 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Carpenter was born in Flat Rock, Ill. on July 6, 1895, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira W. Duncan. The family later moved to the Kingman area where she was reared. Her husband, Rev. Carpenter, died in 1961. Surviving are two sons, Rev. Guy Duncan Carpenter of Evansville and Warren Carpenter of Hillsdale, Ill.; two brothers, W. Hobart Duncan of Crawfordsville and Fred Duncan of Anderson, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Mary King of Venice, Fla. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette. Burial will be at Brazil, Ind. – jlr
