Barbara Elizabeth Carrell, 67, Route 3, Covington, died at her residence Wednesday, Sept. 10, at approximately 4 p.m. Death was sudden and unexpected. Born in Arkansas Feb. 16, 1919, the daughter of Christian and Elizabeth Gretsch. She formerly resided at Route 1, Covington, and had lived at Route 3 since 1967. She attended school at Olney, Ill. and graduated from nursing school at Tuscola, Ill. She was a registered nurse, formerly working at Covington Manor, Covington, and had worked at Meadow Heights Nursing Center, Williamsport, until her death. She attended Wabash Chapel, rural Covington, and was a member of the Ladies Aid of Wabash Chapel and the VFW Auxiliary Post 2395, Covington. She was married July 31, 1946, in Rockville, to John F. Carrell, who preceded her in death Nov.. 3, 1975. Surviving are one son, John Carrell, Route 1, Hillsboro; one daughter, Mrs. Dan (Jane Ann) Lee, Attica; four grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a baby. Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today (Friday) at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Maus Chapel with the Rev. Paul Ray officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery, Newman, Ill.
