Herschel B. Cates, 333 S. Glendora Ave, West Covina, died in the Golden Age Convalescent Home Baldwin Park, Friday after a brief illness. He was born June 23, 1871, in Harveysburg, Ind. Mr. Cates moved to West Covina 16 years ago from Memphis, Tenn. Mr. Cates belonged to the Methodist Church in Memphis. He is survived by his son, Dafford D. Cates, Pomona; a daughter, Mrs. Wanda C. Robbins, Pomona; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m tomorrow in Pomona Cemetery by Paul F. Huebner, pastor of Trinity Methodist Church Pollock Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. - kbz
