Kingman – Irene M. Cates, 79, died at 6:43 a.m. Friday in Union Hospital, Terre Haute. Mrs. Cates was born Dec 3, 1911 in Covington. She had lived in Kingman since 1936. She married Keith J. Cates Jan 3, 1933 and he died June 9, 1975. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Cates was a member of the Cates Community Church and attended the Centennial Church where she was the pianist for a number of years. She also was a member of the Centennial Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Yeddo Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Millcreek Homemakers Club, Hilltoppers Senior Citizens, Kingman Women’s Club and NGO Birthday Club. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Phillip (Carolyn) White of Rt 2, Williamsport; a son, Dale Cates, Rt 3, Kingman; and two sisters, Helen Jones Rt 4, Veedersburg and Inez Slazas of Rt 1, Kingman. – kbz
