Waynetown, Dec 28 -- The funeral of Uncle John Cedars occurred at the late residence Monday morning. His death came Saturday night at 11 o'clock. He was born Sept 1, 1817 in Maryland and was 92 years 2 months 24 days old. He was married to Miss Mary Mosier in 1835, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary Feb 14, 1885. She died Oct 14, 1904. Since then uncle John made his home with his son Lee at the old home place near Christian Union Church. To Mr. and Mrs. Cedars were born 5 children, 3 of whom are still living, Sarah Smith of Potomac, Ill; and George and Hank living here. His son Thomas and daughter Mary J. died some years ago. He was the oldest continued resident of Wayne Township. 50 years ago he became a member of the Predestinarian-Baptist Church. Rev. John L. Miller who preached his funeral discourse being the only one left who moined at that time. Uncle John had the distinction of have 21 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. The interment was made by Shuler & Birdcell in the family lot in the Masonic Cemetery. =kz
