Attica, Ind. - James Herschel Chapell, 65, of 210 N. Perry, died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 7, 1968) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette, where he had been a patient two weeks. He had been in ill health two years. born Feb. 14, 1903 in Veedersburg, he was the son of David and Viola Stonebraker Chapell. He moved to Attica when he was 12 and had resided there since. He married Mary Steward Oct. 13, 1920. Mr. Chappell was employed at Harrison Steel Casting Co. for 45 years before his retirement in 1967. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Arie 2596. Surviving are the widow; two sons, Bill of Attica and Dean of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Moore of St. Petersburg; three brothers, Ernie of Port Charlotte, Fla., Lowell of Hamlet, and Robert of Houston, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Lundgren of Kingsford Heights and Mrs. Deloris Knowles of Stockwell; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at DeSutter Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Seaton officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. tomorrow.
