Miss Harriett Vera Cheney, 80, died at 4:12 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 23, 1968) at the Vermilion Nursing Home. She had been transferred there Nov. 16 after being a patient seven weeks at Lake View Memorial. Miss Cheney resided the past year at 109 E. Williams, and has lived in Danville 15 years. Before that, she resided in Covington, Ind., having moved there with her family when she was a child. She attended Covington schools. She was a member of Central Christian Church. Born Sept. 15, 1888 in Hillsboro, Ind., she was a daughter of Charles and Margaret Gaylor Cheney. She never married. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Tula Mae Gentry, Danville, and a great niece, Judy Goldman, Silver Spring, MD. The body is at Pape Memorial Home where friends may call, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be there at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Joe Detamore will officiate, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington.
