COVINGTON — Mary E. Chiaffredo,
78, of the Foster area, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2003 at home
following an extended illness. She was born April 10, 1925 in Danville, Ill.,
the daughter of William and Ruth (Bennett) Day. She married Joseph Chiaffredo
May 17, 1952 in Danville, Ill. She graduated from Danville High School. She was
a former employee of Sunbeam Corporation in Chicago, Ill. A resident of the
Foster area since 1956, she was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in
Danville. Survivors, besides the husband, include: a son, Greg (Mary Beth)
Chiafreddo Covington; two sisters, Jean (John) Meeker, Bismarck, Ill. and
Patricia (John) Lacey, Georgetown, Ill.; and three granddaughters, Katie,
Meghan and Cassidy. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas J.
Chiaffredo; two brothers; and a grandson. Gravesite services were at 11 a.m.
Tuesday in Resurrection Cemetery, Danville, Ill., with Deacon Herman Bott
officiating. Shelby funeral Home, Covington, was in charge of arrangements.
