Attica, Ind. - Webster Clawson, 78, of 1001 Harley Drive, Lafayette, formerly of Attica Route 3, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette at 4:45 a.m. Monday (May 28, 1973) where he had been a patient about three weeks. He had been ill for several years. Born May 21, 1895, in Jordan Township of Warren County, he was the son of William and Daisy Woodhams Clawson. He married Grace Trott Nov. 26, 1919, at Lafayette, who survives. H was a graduate of West Lebanon High and had attended Illinois University. He was a farmer for several years, a former Warren County treasurer and auditor. He also was a former trustee of Warren Township. He was a veteran of World War I and spent 18 months in France. He was a member of the Brady Lane Christian Church of Lafayette, Greenhill Lodge 455 F and AM and past commander of Warren County American Legion Post 259 of Williamsport. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Mayes of West Lafayette; a son, William Clawson of Linden, Ind., seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A sister, Helen Lucas, preceded him in death and a grandson, Billy K. Clawson, was killed in Vietnam. Friends will be received at the Dale Maus Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic services will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Maus Chapel, with the Rev. David McCord officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with military graveside rites.
