Mellott July 29 – Mrs. Julia Ellen Claypool, 85, widow of Dr. Robert W. Claypool, MD and formerly of Newtown died at 10:25 last night at Carmel at the home of her sister, Mrs. OM Applegate. Born at Newtown, her maiden name was Palin. She was married Dec 15, 1884, Dr. Claypool having died several years ago. Besides Mrs. Applegate, she is survived by another sister, Mrs. Lilly Royalty, Foster, O; and a son, Robert R. Claypool, Mellott. She belonged to Newtown Presbyterian Church where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, the body lying in state an hour before services. - kbz

Funeral services for Mrs. Julia E. Claypool, who died Thursday at the home of her sister, Mrs. OM Applegate at Carmel were to be held at 2 p.m. today at the Presbyterian Church at Newtown with buried there. A resident of Newtown most of her life, Mrs. Claypool was the wife of the late Dr. RW Claypool. She was 85 and was active in the affairs of the Presbyterian Church of which she was a member. She was at one time a student at the old Union Christian College at Merom and painted five pictures after she was 80.  Besides Mrs. Applegate, she is survived by a son, RW of Mellott; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Don P. Claypool of Moorehead, Ky; a sister, Mrs. LJ Royalty of Cincinnati, O; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
