Danville, Ill. - Alonzo W. Clem, 81, a former Danville resident, and brother of Dan V. Clem of Covington, died at 10 p.m. Saturday (June 22, 1963) at an out-of-town hospital where he had been a patient 14 years. He was a former storekeeper at the C&EI shops. Born Sept. 19, 1881, in Blount Township near Amos Corner, he was a son of Francis Marion and Rebecca Magee Clem. He was married in Danville May 20, 1909, to Lillian Stuebe who preceded him in death Dec. 20, 1944. Mr. Clem was a Navy veteran prior to World War I. Surviving are two brothers, Mr. Clem of Covington, and Jake Clem of Detroit, Mich., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Edmund & Dickson Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Curry officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial park.
