Funeral services for John Byron Clodfelder, 25, who was killed Sunday in an automobile accident at New
Britain Conn will be held at the Johnson Funeral Home in Danville Friday afternoon at 2:30 o;cl,  Burial will be at Danville.  The body is to arrive in Danville Wed evening and friends may pay their respects at the
funeral ho me Thursday.

Word was rec'd in this vicinity Sunday by relatives of fatal injury of Corp John Byron Clodfelter, 26 in an
automobile accident at one o'clock Sunday morning Oct 3, near New London Conn and caused his death 5 hours later. A telegram from authorities at Groton Field, Conn where he was stationed notified his wife, Mrs. Margaret Clodfelter of Danville Ill of the accident and she was preparing to fly to Groton Field when a second message brought word that her husband had died.

He was born on a farm near HiIllsboro March 5, 1917 the son of Guy and Phoebe Bever Clodfelter, and was reared in this community.  He stayed at t he home of an aunt, Mrs. Linnie Hallett and attended Wallace High School, graduating in 1935.  He was a member of the Phanuel Lutheran Church near Wallace.  Following grad he went to Gary to work in the steel mills. He was married to Margaret Betterton of Danville on Dec 3, 1940.

They moved to Indianapolis where Corp. Clodfelter was employed as a machinist with the International Machine Tool Co.  Corp. Clodfelter went ito the service on Jan 2 1, 1943 and was assigned to the Army Air Corps being a member of the 78th Station Complement Squadron at the time of his death. Surviving are t he widow; the father, Guy; of East Main Street, Danville, the mother Mrs. Phoebe Clodfelter of Oklahoma City, Ok; and two brothers, Frank of Indianapolis and Guy Burdette Clodfelter of Crown Point.

The body was expected to arrive in Danville, Ill Wed evening and would be taken to the Johns on
Funeral Home in that city where funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be at Danville.   --- transcribed by kbz
