Feb 1907 -- Mrs. Jane Clore, wife of Elijah Clore died at the home in Crawfordsville Monday morning after a serious illness lasting one week of complications of diseases though she has really been in bad health for some time and in fact, her health has been failing for five years due to heart trouble and dropsy. Mrs. Clore's miaden name was Jane Deer. She was born in Montgomery County 78 years ago and was married to Elijah Clore in 1850. Their life has been one of honor and prosperity and by their industry and thrift they amassed a goodly fortune as well did they always enjoy the confidence and respect of all who knew them. To their union three children were born: Mrs. Ranson (sic) Myres (sic) of Jackson Township, Jess Clore of Alamo and LeRoy Clore of Crawfordsville, all of whom have followed the teachings of their good parents and became good citizens who are held in high respect by all who know them. The greater part of Mrs. Clore's life was spent on the farm East of Wallace, in fact we doubt if there is a citizen of the county who does not know of the famous stock farm and the hospitable home of Uncle Elijah Clore and wife. A few years ago they moved to Crawfordsville there to spend the eventide of their lives with all the pleasures that such surrounding would give to them and while their home was and has always been a happy one it is now shrouded in sorrow and the legion of friends of Uncle Lige in his old home county deeply sympathize with him for they knew him well enough to know that his sorrow is deep. The funeral of Mrs. Clore was held Wednesday, interment was made in the Alamo Cemetery.
