Ruth E. Coats, 88 of rural Waynetown died at 9 a.m. Thursday in the Forum at the Crossing Nursing Home in Indianapolis. Mrs. Coats had been a tax preparer and manager of H&R Block Office in Crawfordsville.  She was a member of Scotts Prairie and Alamo Christian Church where she belonged to the Ladies Aid Society. She was a former member of Culver Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Coats was born Dec 19, 1918 in Covington to William and Edna Smith Price.  She was a graduate of Covington HS.  She married Homer William "Bill" Coats Dec 21, 1941. He died Nov 16, 1996.  Survivors include son David (Nancy) Coats of Indianapolis; daughter Joan (David) Philpott of Noblesville; sister WInifred Stockdale of Winterhaven, Fla; two grandsons and five great grandchildren.  A daughter Kathy Coats and a half-brother Rudolph Storm are deceased. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Shoemaker Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. Danny Meadows officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Alamo Christian Church or Montgomery County Red Cross. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home - kbz
