Covington - Funeral services for Fletcher C. Coffing, age 80, of Covington, who died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Lake View Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient 11 days, were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Coffing, who had been in ill health several years, was born in Fountain County April 3, 1890, the son of Charles F. and Anna B. Tharp Coffing. He was married Jan. 27, 1914, to Della H. Martin, who survives. A life resident of the Salem community, Mr. Coffing was a retired farmer and a member of the Salem United Methodist Church. he moved to Covington in 1951. Mr. Coffing operated the Farm Bureau Oil Truck for 10 years. He was a charter member, former director and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fountain County Farm Bureau. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: one son, Harold M. of Covington Rt. 3; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Reatha) Dean Martin of Covington Rt. 3; one brother, Ira Coffing, also of Covington Rt. 3; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, one son and one grandson.
