Mrs. Florence C. Coffing, 67, of 1612 Franklin, died at 4:25 p.m. yesterday (Jan. 29, 1969) in the Carle Hospital in Urbana where she had been a patient since Dec. 5. She had been in ill health two years. Mrs. Coffing had lived in Danville 45 years and at the Franklin address 24 years. Before 1953 she had been employed by the Block & Kuhl Co. From 1953 until 1967 she was educational secretary for Danville School District 118. She was the first secretary for East Park Junior High School when it was opened in 1961. She was also former secretary for the building and maintenance superintendent of District 118. Born Nov. 5, 1901, at Frankfort, Ind., she was a daughter of Albert Voorhees and Lela Hackard Culver. Her school was at Frankfort and she was a graduate of Frankfort High School. Surviving are a son, Phil C. Coffing, Danville, and a granddaughter. Mrs. Coffing was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, a member of the WSCS of the church and the Kum Dubble Sunday School Class. She was a past member of the Illinois Association of Educational Secretaries and a past member of the Illinois League of Municipal Employes. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pape Memorial Home. Dr. Richard Newhall will officiate. Burial will be in the Bunnell Cemetery at Frankfort. Friends will be received at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.
