Hillsboro, Ind. - Gail McNeal Coffing, 69, of Hillsboro, died unexpectedly at 2:30 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 16, 1972) at his home in Hillsboro. Death was due to natural causes. Born Feb. 27, 1903, in Fountain County, he was the son of Ernest and Jennie Dunbar Coffing. On Feb. 26, 1923, he married Mary Marie Hickman, who survives. A life resident of Fountain County, he was a farmer, carpenter and electrician. A resident of Portland Arch for many years, he was a member of the Fountain Christian Church. He had resided in Hillsboro a year. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lee (Betty Lou) Corey of Covington; a son, Ernest Ray of Crawfordsville; four sisters, Mrs. Verdie Sprouls of Perrysville, Mrs. Hazel Wilson of Frankfort, Mrs. Cleo Feuerestein of Terre Haute and Mrs. Sadie Grandstaff of Muncie; a brother, Orville of Muncie; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Saturday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, with the Rev. Ernest Moore officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Covington. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.
