Alvin, Ill. - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Bell Coleman, age 48, of Alvin, who died Thursday, Sept. 27, in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient two weeks, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. Mrs. Coleman was born Feb. 14, 1914 in Perry County, Ky., the daughter of Hiram and Ellen Marshall Newman Sloan. She was married in 1942 to Thomas Beevers, who preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1949. On July 30, 1956, she was married to Thomas Coleman, who survives. She had resided in Alvin five years and formerly lived on Covington Rt. 2. She was a member of the Alvin Church of God. Surviving Mrs. Coleman, in addition to her husband, are: her mother, Mrs. Ellen Newman of Alvin; one daughter, Mrs. Janie Beevers of Hegeler, Ill., and a half-brother, Franklin Sloan of Viper, Ky. Burial was in Lower Mound Cemetery, southwest of Covington. Serving as pallbearers were: Clyde Smith, Richard Claypool, Ed Hosheau, Dale McDonald, Art Cunningham and Donald Morrison.
