COVINGTON -- Harlan J. Meade, 64, of Rt. 2, vice president of the Covington Community School board and assistant trust officer and farm manager of the Fountain Trust Co., died at 8:10 p.m. Thursday in Lakeview Hospital at Danville, Ill. He had been a patient there four days, suffering with a heart ailment. A son of George C. and Grace Robertson Meade, he was born Oct. 11, 1902, at Danville, Ill. He was a 1921 graduate of Covington High School and attended Illinois Teachers College (now Illinois State University) at Normal. He taught four years in rural Vermilion County ( Ill.) schools. He was married April 23, 1925, to Caroline Clem, who survives with two sons, Laurel C. and Byron J. Meade of West Lafayette, seven grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mr. Meade was the last of a family of four children. He was a member of State Line Methodist Church and the organizing teacher of the NEW Class, the Fountain-Warren Board of Realtors, Wabash Valley Association, Covington Chamber of Commerce, American Soybean Association, Indiana Agriculture Bankers Association, Indiana Farm Management and Rural Appraisers and the Indiana School Boards Association. He was a grain farmer for 35 years, retiring in 1961. He had served in the Fountain Trust Co. since that time. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Monday at State Line Methodist Church, where the body will lie in state for an hour preceding the rites. Rev. Lawrence Tedrow and Dr. J. J. Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery at Danville. The body is being taken from Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home to the residence, where friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening.   --typed by Walt W

Covington, Ind. (CNS) — Harlan J. Meade, 64, a prominent resident of Covington Route 2, died at 8:10 p.m. yesterday (June 1, 1967) at Lake View Memorial. He had been a patient there four days following a heart attack. Born Oct. 11, 1902, in Danville, he was the son of George C. and Grace Robertson Meade. He was married April 23, 1925, to Caroline Clem, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Laurel C. and Byron J., both of West Lafayette; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Meade was the last of a family of four children. He had been a grain farmer for 35 years, retiring in 1961. He had served as assistant trust officer and farm manager for the Fountain Trust Co., since retiring. He also was serving as vice president of the Covington Community Consolidated School Board. He was a member of the State Line Methodist Church and was the organizing teacher of the NEW Class. Mr. Meade also was a member of the Fountain-Warren Board of Realtors, Wabash Valley Association, Covington Chamber of Commerce, American Soybean Association, Indiana Agriculture Banker's Association, Indiana Farm Management and Rural Appraisors Association and Indiana School Boards Association. He was graduated from Covington High in 1921 and attended Illinois Teacher's College at Normal. He taught for four years in rural Vermilion County, Ill., schools before moving to the Covington community. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the State Line Methodist Church. The Rev.
