Alberta Meeker, 73, 822 Second Street, Covington, died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, December 22, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Illinois.

  Born October 20, 1910 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, she was the daughter of Guy and Lucretia Miller Smith. She married Joseph Ross Meeker, who died in 1957. She had been employed as a custodian at the former Veedersburg High School and the Veedersburg Laundromat. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Veedersburg and had been a member of the evangelical United Brethren Church before the merger.

  Survivors include three sons, Norman R. Meeker of White Water, Wisconsin, James M. Meeker of Covington and Zane Meeker of Veedersburg; a daughter, Mrs. Nola Trinkle of Veedersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Gordon Harper of New Market, Mrs. James Howard of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mrs. Gene Craig of Veedersburg; two brothers, Stanley Smith of Clinton, Arizona and Walter Smith of Indianapolis; three grandchildren and a great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother.

  Services were conducted Monday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev. Richard Throckmorton officiating. Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery. – s -
