Newtown - Mrs. Barcie Meeker, 93, of rural Frankfort, a native of Fountain County died at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette. Mrs. Meeker lived west of Newtown after her marriage until 1934 when she moved to Clinton County. She was a member of United Church of Christ, Jackson Township member of United Church of Christ, Jackson Township Home Economics Club and Isaac Walton Auxiliary. Born near Stone Bluff in Fountain County, she was a daughter of John A and Indiana Galloway. She married Orville Meeker on Sept 27, 1905. Surviving are a son, Gerald D of Harbor Springs, Michigan; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Martha Belle) Hickman of Rt 4, Frankfort; two brothers, O.K. Galloway and A.T. Galloway of Crawfordsville; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A son, a sister and four brothers are deceased. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Goodwin Funeral Home at Frankfort with Rev. Kenneth Seiffertt officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery west of Newtown. NEWTOWN, Ind - Mrs. Barcie Meeker, 93, of rural Frankfort, formerly of Newtown, died at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 24, 1976) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. Born near Stone Bluff in Fountain County, she was the daughter of John A. and Indiana Galloway. She was married on Sept. 27, 1905, to Orville Meeker, who survives. The family resided a mile west of Newtown for several years before moving to Clinton County in 1934. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Izaak Walton League Auxiliary and Jackson Township Home Economics Club in Clinton County. Other survivors include a son, Gerald of Harbor Springs, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Martha Belle) Hickman of Frankfort Route 4; two brothers, A. T Galloway of Newtown and O. K. Galloway of Crawfordsville; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, a sister and four brothers. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Goodwin Funeral Home in Frankfort, with the Rev. Kenneth Seiffertt officiating. Burial will be in Union Church Cemetery four miles west of Newtown. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today. -- jlr
