Crawfordsville—Mayda M. Melvin, 69, 1107 E. Elmore St., Crawfordsville, died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 1989, in Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville.
  She was born Jan. 20, 1920 in Crawfordsville, and was a lifelong resident. She was married Aug. 27, 1938, in Crawfordsville to Charles P. Melvin, who survives.
  She was a homemaker. She attended Young’s Chapel and Linden schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crawfordsville.
  Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Eugene, Crawfordsville, and Larry, Kentland; a daughter, Mrs. John (Phyllis) Craig, Crawfordsville; two sisters, Lucille Brunson and Helen Mullins, both of Crawfordsville, and a half brother, Ernest Paxton, Kingman; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
  Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today (Friday) at First Baptist Church, Crawfordsville, with the Rev. James Ranard officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery South.
