Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Elmer Metzger, age 66, resident of Covington Rt. 2 and a former business man of this city, died at 10:30 p. m. Tuesday, March 20, while enroute to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville. Mr. Metzger was born Sept. 27, 1895 in Vermillion County, Ind., the son of David and Anna Hines Metzger. He had never married. He served with the cavalry during World War I. He owned and operated an electrical shop and was in business in Covington for several years. Mr. Metzger had been in ill health for several years. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ethel Howard of State Line; one brother, David, Covington Rt. 2; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. The body is at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here where friends may call after noon Friday. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the funeral home. The Rev. Colin Parks of Gessie will officiate and burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, southwest of Covington.   -- typed by Walt W
