New Richmond – Gordon Miles, 72 of Rt 1, New Richmond died at 10 a.m. Saturday in Home Hospital, Lafayette. Born near Attica, he was a 1926 graduate of Alamo HS. He had lived in the New Richmond community and was engaged in farming there since 1939 retiring in 1981. In 1926 he was married in Covington to Opal Burks, who survives. Mr. Miles was a member of New Richmond United Methodist Church, New Richmond Masonic Lodge 307, where he was past master and was a member and past worthy patron of Chapter 277, Order of Eastern Star in New Richmond. Surviving with the widow are a son, Donald Miles; one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Lois) Goff both of New Richmond and one brother, Russell Miles of Rt 6, Crawfordsville. - kbz

New Richmond - Gordon E. Miles, 72, of Rt 1, New Richmond died at 10 a.m. Saturday in Home Hospital at Lafayette where he had been a patient two weeks. He had lived and farmed in the New Richmond Community since 1939, retiring in 1981. A member of the New Richmond United Methodist Church, he was a member and Past Master of New Richmond Masonic Lodge and member and Past Worthy Patron of New Richmond OES 277. He graduated from Alamo HS in 1926.
Mr. Miles was born July 27, 1906 at Attica, a son of Albert O. and Carrie May Reister Miles. He was married to Opal Beck April 24, 1926 at Covington. She survives. Also surviving is a son, Donald of New Richmond; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Lois) Goff of New Richmond; a brother Russell Miles of Rt 6; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and a son, Merle in 1981. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with Revs. Holly Graham and Victor Link officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. tomorrow.
