Mellott - Thurston C. Minick, 86, 1821 E 420 N, Veedersburg died Wednesday Dec 3, 1997 at 3:46 p.m. in Culver Union Hospital, Crawfordsville following a brief illness. He was born in Sterling, Indiana Oct 10, 1911. He was the son of Edward and Tamson Elizabeth Carpenter Minick. He was raised in Veedersburg and had lived in the Mellott area since the 1930s. He was a graduate of Mellott HS wher ehe played on the varsity basketball team. He had farmed all his life in Richland Twp in Fountain County. While farming he had also worked at Harrison Steel Castings in Attica. He later worked as a road foreman for the Indiana State Highway. He was working as a custodian for Fountain Central HS at the time of his retirement. He was a member of Church of Christ, Mellot. He was a 50-year member of Hillsboro Lodge #385 F&AM and was past master. He was a member of the Fern Chapter #194 OES Low 12 Club of Mellott and National Rifle Association. He was an avid sportsman, loving to hunt and fish. He was married to Iva Lucille King May 25, 1941 in Sterling. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, James E. Minick, North Ft. Myers, Fl; Ronnie C. Minick, Linden; a daughter, Mrs. Dan (Cheryl) Harshbarger, HIllsboro; 7 grandchildren: Dawn Foster; Holly Beecher, Kimberly Minick, Krista Minick, Lisa Hoagland, Scott Harshbarger, Brian Harshbarger; 3 great grandchildren, Chad Creamer, Haley Beecher and Johnathan Hoagland. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Haas adn Marguerite Royal. Services will be at the Maus Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Saturday, Dec 6 at at 11:00 a.m. Rev Carty and Mr. Junior Haas officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro.
