Irvin “Floyd” Mitchell of rural Clay City, age 87, died Friday, December 11, in the Veterans Hospital at Marion. He was born north of Clay City, March 26, 1894, the son of George and Ida Harbaugh Mitchell. A retired farmer, he was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, was a veteran of World War I and a member of Clay City American Legion. August 22, 1928, he married Phoebe Jane Edmondson, who is presently a patient in Macanell Nursing Home at Center Point.
  Also surviving are a daughter, Patricia L. Edwards of Indianapolis; two sons, Galen W. of Cory and Ivan Dale of Veedersburg; a brother, Walter of Center Point; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
  Funeral services were held Monday morning at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City with Rev. Charles E. Dumond Jr. officiating. Burial was in Sink Cemetery south of Clay City. – thanks to S
