Hillsboro – Mrs. Sarah (Sadie) Moore, 86, of Hillsboro Route 1, died at 11:35 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 22, 1974) at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville. She was a former school teacher and had resided her entire married life in the Hillsboro Community. Born May 8, 1888, near Covington, she was the daughter of Andrew and Sarah Longnecker Campbell. She was married to Clarence A. Moore of Hillsboro in March 1925. He died in May 1957. Survivors include a son, Donald of Waynetown; two daughters, Mrs. Leland (Gertrude) Rafferty and Mrs. Mildred Crowder, both of Crawfordsville; and a grandson, Ernest Moore of Irving, Tex. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church and CWF and had taught Sunday School for over 30 years. She was a member of the Jackson Township Home Extension Club, Indiana State Federation of Poetry Club and Hoosier Poets Corner. She won honors from both groups. She was a graduate of Covington High and Terre Haute Normal College. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. EST Tuesday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown, with the Rev. Dorman Winger officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.   – jlr

Hillsboro – Mrs. Sarah “Sadie” Moore, 86 of Rt 1, Hillsboro, died at 11:35 a.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville, where she had been admitted Saturday after suffering a stroke.  Born near Covington, she was married to Clarence A. Moore in 1925. He died in 1947. Mrs. Moore was graduated from Covington HS and Terre Haute Normal College. A former teacher, she lived in Hillsboro all her married life. She was a member of Hillsboro Christian Church and its CWF.  She also taught Sunday School more than 30 years. Mrs. Moore was a member of Jackson Township Home Economics Club, Indiana State Federation of Poetry and Hoosier Poet’s Corner. She was honored for her poetry by both state organizations. Surviving are a son, Donald of Waynetown and two daughters, Mrs. Leland (Gertrude) Rafferty and Mrs. Mildred Crowder, both of Crawfordsville. - kbz

Hillsboro - Sarah "Sadie" Moore, 86 of Rt 1, an award winning poet, died at 11:35 a.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. She had been a patient since Saturday afternoon.  Mrs. Moore a former school teacher and lived during her lifetime at Hillsboro. She was a member of Indiana State Federation Poetry Club and Hoosier Poets of Indiana where she had been honored many times.  Mrs. Moore also was a member of Hillsboro Christian Church, Keystone Sunday School Class and Jackson Township Extension Homemakers Club. She taught Sunday School more than 30 years. She was a graduate of Covington HS and Terre Haute Normal College. Born May 8, 1888 near Covington she was a daughter of Andrew and Sarah Longnecker Campbell. She married Clarence A. Moore of Hillsboro in March 1925. He died in 1957. Surviving are a son, Donald of Waynetown; two daughters, Mrs. Leland (Gertrude) Rafferty and Mrs. Mildred Crowder of Crawfordsville; a grandson, Ernest D. Moore of Irving, Tx and several nieces and nephews.  Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Servies-Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Rev. Dorman Winger officiating.
