Versa L. (Jack) Moore, age 66, a retired auto mechanic and owner of a garage here for several years, died Monday, June 24, at 7:53 p. m. in the Robert Long Hospital at Indianapolis where he had been a patient eight days. He was born Dec. 22, 1896 at Kingman, a son of George E. and Effie Bacus Moore. Mr. Moore was married to Grace Sprankle on April 17, 1920 and she preceded him in death in May of 1937. He was married to Wilma Murray on Oct. 18, 1944, and she survives. Mr. Moore, who retired in 1962, was an auto mechanic and operated his own garage here for several years and later was associated in the Etter & Moore Garage business in Covington. He was a member of Fountain Lodge No. 60, F&AM of Covington, Past Masters Association, having served as Master of the Fountain Lodge in 1954, Chapter and Council of Crawfordsville, Fountain County Old Guard Post No. 2395, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fulton Banta Post 291, American Legion, Rockville Low 12 Club, Veterans of World War I, Covington Barricks, 1995, and Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis. He served in the U. S. Army for two years during World War I, having served overseas in France and Germany. Survivors include his wife of 614 Fifth St.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Marlene Avery of Rantoul, Ill.; two brothers, Theodore Moore of Sacramento, Calif., and Fred Moore of Delphos, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Louise M. Hedges of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Clare Francoeuer of Adrain, Mich., Mrs. Carrie Wilson of Watseka, Ill., and Mrs. Edna Metsker of Kingman. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Frank. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 27, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Glenn Ray, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope with the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in charge. The body will be taken to the home residence at 614 Fifth St., where friends may call. The body will be taken to the church one hour before services.   -- typed by Walt W
