Alvin, Ill.—Robert E. Morphy, 79, Alvin, died at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 1989 at United Samaritans Medical Center, Sager Campus, Danville, Ill.

  He was born April 12, 1909, in Green Bay, Wis., the son of Arthur and Violet A. McGrath Morphy. He was married Sept. 17, 1933 in Rossville, Ill. to Juanita I. McBride, who survives.

  He had lived in Alvin for the past 17 years. He was a member of Local 841 International Union of Operating Engineers. He worked for 40 years before his retirement. His hobbies were fishing, reading and he was an avid sports fan.

  Surviving besides his wife are a stepson, James Miller, Loda; two sons, Thomas E., Alvin and John R., Perrysville; three daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Georgiann) Coleman, Crawfordsville; Mrs. John (Sarah) Dunham, Perrysville, and Mrs. James (Sue) Hunt, Fithian, Ill.; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

  Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hicks Cemetery, Perrysville, with the Rev. Wayne Hoover officiating.
