ELMDALE — John Edmond Myerly, retired railroadman, died of pneumonia in a Logansport hospital early Wednesday morning. Mr. Myerly, 85, had been ill since January. He was a railroad yard conductor for 30 years until his retirement in 1959. After that he and his wife opened a grocery in Elmdale and remained in business until 1963. Myerly was born on March 6, 1881, in Paris, Ill. He first married Pauline Oxley who died in 1946. He subsequently married Laura LaMaster on Jan. 25, 1959, in Lebanon. He was a member of the Logansport Lutheran Church and Hoosier Lodge 261 of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Survivors besides the wife are a daughter, Mae Boles of Speedway; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Edith Gibson of Jeffersonville and Katie Webb of Crawfordsville; a stepson, Hugh LaMaster of Taylorsville, Ky., eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Rites will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. Richard Baker and Rev. Rob James officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday.

WINGATE - Funeral services for J. E. Myerly of Elmdale were held Friday afternoon at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. Richard Baker of Fremont Baptist Church of Crawfordsville officiated. He was assisted by Rev. Rob R. James of the Elmdale Methodist Church. Mrs. James Grenard, organist, played favorite hymns and accompanied Mrs. Raymond Chesterson of Rt. 2, Crawfordsville, who sang "Under His Wing." Pallbearers, who helped with the flowers, were Walter Fitzwater, Lewis Butler, Leland Shelton, Alonzo Cheek, Darrell Allen and Adam Bonebrake. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
