HILLSBORO — Max William Myers, 79, Hillsboro, died at 5:05 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2000 in Williamsburg Healthcare Center, Crawfordsville. He was born near Wallace Feb. 20, 1921, the son of Leslie and Grayce Edwards Myers. He married Mable Wagoner April 12, 1942 in the Hillsboro United Methodist Church. She survives. He was raised in Wallace, graduating from Wallace High School in 1940. He had resided in Hillsboro since 1978. He farmed in the Wallace area of Fountain County. He was a devoted member of the Phanuel Lutheran Church in Wallace. He served on the Wallace Lutheran Cemetery Board for 41 years and for many years served as sexton of the cemetery. His devotion was his family, Phanuel Lutheran Church and Wallace Lutheran Cemetery. During his retirement years he enjoyed woodworking and genealogy. He served during World War II in the U. S. Navy and saw action in the Asiatic Theater and Philippine Liberation. He was a member of the Crawfordsville American Legion Post #72. Survivors, besides the wife, include: two daughters, Brenda (Joe) Cook, Indianapolis and Betsy (Dr. Timothy) Pelfrey, Marysville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Doug and Lori Cook and Todd and Tess Pelfrey. He was preceded in death by an infant son and a sister. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday in Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with the Rev. John C. Stacy and intern Brandon Woodruff officiating. Burial was in Wallace Lutheran Cemetery.
