Viola “Cookie” Marie Myers, 71, lost a long fight to cancer at 1:42 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2000 in her home in Port Richey, Florida. Born in Texarkana, Texas, she attended school there. Her marriage was to Warren Myers in 1944. Warren and Cookie lived in Attica for over 40 years. Warren, Cookie and their son, Larry, owned: The Hoosier, The Hob Nob Restaurant, Dog ‘n Suds Drive-In, Stage One Nite Club, and Big Daddy Drive-In. She was a correspondent for the Attica papers for almost 30 years. Surviving, are: her husband, Warren; five sons, Bill Myers of Houston, Tex., John Myers of Indianapolis, Larry Myers of Port Richey, Frank Myers of Clarksville, Tenn. and Steve Myers of Tampa, Fla; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Myers. Memorial services will be held in Attica in late July. – jlr

Port Richey, FL — Viola (Cookie) Marie Myers, 71, lost a long fight to Cancer at 1:42 pm June 29, 2000 in her home at 10802 Tioga Dr. Port Richey, FL 34668. She was born in Texarkana, TX Nov. 19, 1928 and attended school in Texarkana. She then married Warren Myers in 1944. Warren and Cookie lived in Attica for over forty years and her heart was with one of the greatest little places on earth. Warren, Cookie and their son, Larry owned; The Hoosier, The Hob Nob Restaurant, Dog N Suds Drive Inn, The Stage One Nite Club, and the Big Daddy Drive Inn. Cookie wrote over 1,400 columns for Attica papers in almost 30 years. Cookie had to stop her column in Jan of this year due to her illness. Survivors, include her husband Warren Myers and their five sons, Bill Myers of Houston, TX, John Myers of Indianapolis, IN, Larry Myers of Port Richey, FL, Frank Myers of Clarksville, TN and Steve Myers of Tampa, FL; sixteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by Steves twin brother Jimmy Myers. Memorial Services will be held in Attica in late July. – jlr

ATTICA — Viola Marie “Cookie” Myers, 71, Port Richey, Fla., died at her residence, Thursday, June 29, 2000. She was born Nov. 19, 1928 in Harper Springs, Ark., the daughter of Willis and Josephine Akin Cook. She married M. Warren Myers Sept. 18, 1944. He survives. She was raised in Texarkana, Texas, residing briefly in Lafayette, and moving to Attica in 1954. She and her husband formerly owned and operated Smitty's Dog & Suds, Big Daddy Restaurant and the Hob Nob. She enjoyed golfing, painting, writing and received her brown belt in karate. She had the column “Let's Talk" in the Fountain County Neighbor and also wrote for the Bi-County Ambassador (Welcome Wagon). Survivors, besides the husband, include: five sons, William and John Myers, both of Indianapolis, Larry Myers, Florida, Frank Myers, Fort Walton, Fla. and Steve Myers; 17 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, and a son, James Richard Myers. Memorial services were at 1 p.m. Saturday Attica Free Methodist Church with the Rev. John DeSanto officiating. – jlr
