Mellott—Harrison Scott Palin, 79, of Mellott, died Tuesday night in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette. He had been a patient there since Friday. Mr. Palin was a retired trucker. He lived most of his life in the Mellott area. During World War I he served in the U. S. Army in France. He was born March 8, 1891, on a farm near Mellott to Hiram H. and Charlotte Scott Palin. On Sept. 20, 1909, he married Edith O. Howard in Mellott. She died in 1961. Surviving are two sons, Ernest of Parson, Kan., and Harold Scott of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Mrs. Arley (Thelma Irene) Baity of near Mellott; two sisters, Mrs. Inez DeVault of Crawfordsville and Miss Lou Helen Palin of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Ben of Bradenton, Fla.; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Crumley-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.

Harrison Scott Palin, 79, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 15, 1970) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette where he had been a patient since Friday. Born March 8, 1891, on a farm near Mellott, he was the son of Hiram H. and Charlotte Scott Palin. On Sept. 20, 1909, he married Edith O. Howard, who died in 1961. A resident of the Mellott area most of his life, he was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion and a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army in France. Survivors include two sons, Ernest of Parson, Kan., and Harold of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Mrs. Arley (Thelma Irene) Baity of Mellott; two sisters, Mrs. Inez De Vault of Crawfordsville and Miss Lou Helen Palin of Phoenix; a brother, Ben of Bradenton, Fla.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. EST Friday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with burial in Union Cemetery.   --- typed by CA.
