PALMER, Clyde

Clyde E. Palmer, 65, Fountain County surveyor, died Monday evening in Lake View Memorial Hospital at Danville, Illinois where he had been taken the day before. Mr. Palmer, who was serving his second term in office, had been in declining health for the last three years. He owned and operated a farm on Rt. 1, Kingman. He was a member of the Centennial Evangelical United Brethren Church and at the time of his death a member of the Centennial Cemetery board of trustees. Born in Fountain County on January 6, 1904 he was a son of Elbert G and Clara Sackmire Palmer. The mother, now Mrs. Warren Bower, survives and also lives on Rt. 1. His marriage to Mattie Arvin was solemnized June 22, 1927. Surviving besides the mother are the widow and the stepfather; two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Betty ) Haga of Rt. 3, Covington, Mrs. Russell (Lois) Clouser of Pomona, California and a brother, Glen Palmer of near Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter. Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Woodrow Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Cadman officiating. Burial will be in Centennial Cemetery. Friends may call at 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
