Sudden Death – William Parish dropped dead while standing near and watching his son measure wheat from a machine on his farm near Veedersburg.  He was apparently in good health and died before those near him realized that anything was wrong.  It was supposed to have been heart disease that caused his death. - kbz

Our community was started Tuesday morning by the announcement that William Parish had fallen dead in his tracks while standing near where the hands were threshing at the farm of Sam Ludlow one and one half miles northeast of town.  Just previously he had been chatting and joking as if nothing was the matter.  He never spoke after he fell and made no sound save a slight gurgle. Heart disease is the supposed cause.  Deceased was a middle-aged man, a widower, his wife having preceded him last spring.  He leaves one child a daughter (sic – see above) a daughter and hosts of friends. - kbz
