Andrew Patterson, one of the best known and most highly respected farmer sof the Veedersburg vicinity, died at his home on state road 41 south of Veedersburg Saturday morning. He suffered a stroke of paralysis on Thursday and complications which followed cused his death. Mr. Patterson was 86 and had resided in the county for more than 1/2 a century. He was born near Alamo, Montgomery County Aug 15, 1849, the son of Thomas and Mary Jane Patterson. He was married to Miss Indiana Bailey Sept 27, 1872. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary 14 years ago and were outstanding as having been the longest married couple in this section of Indiana. Mr. Patterson enjoyed good health up to the time of his last illness and was always active in church and community work. He was one of the remaining few people who had attended every session of the Old Settlers' meetings which have been held at Yeddo for 58 years. The Old Settlers meetings for several years past have been held at Patterson Grove near his home. He took an active interest in the community events. He was a member of Centennial United Brethren Church, east of Yeddo. He leaves beside the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Emma Myer and Mrs. Mae McCormack Veedersburg and one son, John, Covington; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Centennial Church Monday afternoon, with burial at the adjoining cemetery.
