Ernest F. Pavey of Cates, age 84, died Sunday morning, October 18, in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He was born at Cates, December 4, 1896, the son of George and Viola Rardon Pavey. March 1, 1919, he married Lacie Marie Witsman, who died March 2, 1964.

  A 50-year member of Yeddo Masonic Lodge, he was employed in early years as a teller in Cates bank, was a maintenance worker for the Wabash Railroad and was employed for several years as custodian for Cates School. He retired in 1963.

  Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lois Lewis of Waukegan, Illinois, and Mrs. Wandalene Smith of Crawfordsville; three sons, Lowell of Kingman, Ronald of Veedersburg and Melvin of Speedway; 18 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a step great granddaughter.
  Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Dennis Keefer officiating. Burial was in Coal Creek Cemetery, south of Covington. Masonic rites were held at the funeral home Tuesday night. – thanks to S
