VEEDERSBURG, Ind. (CNS) — Kyle T. Payne, 74, of Veedersburg Route 4, died at 10:40 a.m. Monday (Feb. 10, 1975) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. He had been a patient a day and ill four months. Born Dec. 30, 1900, in Monroe County, Ky., he was the son of Jeptha and Martha Gentry Payne. On July 11, 1923, in Covington, he married Bertha Hayman, who survives. He was a resident of the Stone Bluff area for 50 years. He was a farmer in his early life and retired as a carpenter in 1973. He was a member of the Stone Bluff Nazarene Church. Other survivors include four sons, George Reuben of Covington, L. T. of Newtown, Vernon of Danville and Tom of Mango Hills, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Stone of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Nellie Bowles of Summer Shade, Ky.; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, five sisters and a brother. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Thursday at the Stone Bluff Nazarene Church, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Also surviving are four sons, George Ruben Payne, Covington; L. T. Payne, Danville, Ill.; Tom Payne, Mango Hills, Fla.; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Elchard Payne, Fairbury, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Stump, Crawfordsville; Mrs. Nellie Bowles, Summer Shade, Ky.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, one brother and five sisters. Mr. Payne had been a resident of the Stone Bluff area for 50 years. He farmed in his early life and later was a carpenter, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Stone Bluff Nazarene Church.
