Source: The obituary is from a collection of newspaper (paper names not recorded) obituaries saved, by Fauniel Hershberger, during the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 80's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

John P. Pearl, 84, of 108 W. Monroe St., Attica, died Tues., Dec. 14, 1976 at Community Hospital in Williamsport. He had been ill for two years and seriously ill for the past month. He was born Sept. 21, 1892, south of Odell in Tippecanoe County, the son of Frank F. and Catherine Van Dame Pearl. On Aug. 9, 1927, he married Martha Snouwaert in Attica. She survives. He attended Jackson Township School in Tippecanoe County and formerly had resided near Odell. He had been a resident of Attica since 1918. Mr. Pearl was the owner and operator of Pearl's Grocery in Attica from 1918 to 1961. He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Church in Attica and the Catholic Order of Foresters Other survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Margaret Ann Leath of Lafayette, Mrs. Jean Brickler of Brownsburg, Miss Norma Pearl and Miss Pat Pearl, both of Attica, Mrs. Helen Haddock of Williamsport and Mrs. Catherine Young of Benton, Mo.; three sons, John Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif., Gerald Pearl of Pine Village and Thomas Pearl of Attica; two brothers, Joseph Pearl of Lebanon and George Pearl of Rocky Ford, Colo., 33 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Friday, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Attica, with the Rev. Edward Matuszak officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery in Attica with Dale Maus Funeral Home in charge.   --- typed by CA.
